Antenna Delete. Opinions?

I am thinking of doing an antenna delete or an electric antenna. Opinions?

The first is black, then brushed aluminum or chrome. Note, they are not fully seated down into the gasket.

The black one is a little less obvious, but all seem somewhat out of place.

I welded in the one on the fender and later put in a retractable on the rear quarter, which I like a lot.

I've heard of people welding it up and then running a small wire inside the windshield gasket for the antenna. Anybody know anything about that?

If you're not going to weld up the hole, install a powered/retractable antenna. Those "plugs" look like crap, IMHO.

If you plan on doing new paint then I would just weld it up. Thats what I did but it was easy since my car was all apart. Maybe try painting one of those the same color as your car and see if that helps.

Do I hear a volunteer for the future???

Ok. guys. That was $4 wasted.

A power antenna is already on order.

I do not like any of the body plugs either, so why not weld or install an electric one. I had mine welded when it was in for paint and it looks super clean. I run the antenna on top of the heater box and reception is fine.

I regret not having the hole welded shut looks so much better. I am going to look into getting a black billet shorty antenna since the front of the car is black.

As suggested earlier, if you are not going to be painting, you can easily install a power antenna.

I welded mine and also use the tune trapper listed above. Works well within a reasonable distance to town but if 50 or so miles out of town reception isn't quite as good.

I tried the hidden/tune tapper antenna and the reception was not good. I tried it in a couple of different locations and still no good reception, a waist of money, again.

I have a hidden antenna, it's in the trunk. KY doesn't have many decent radio stations to choose from anyway but reception sucks so I just use my iPhone plugged into my stereo. I had repop fenders so no hole to weld up. I like not having an antenna showing but may go with the retractable in the rear quarter... it's not high on the priority list though.

Weld in the hole baby!

I'm giving serious thought of welding mine and moving it the the quater panel. Going electric and doing the 50's style french deal.
