Braille Batteries

No personal experience but have heard they are not good for daily use. Seem pricey for what they are....less power but you have less weight.

I knew they had to have a drawback, they weigh about 20 pounds half the weight of a normal battery

If you're thinking of one for the Shelby, given its performance parameters, and if a group 48 will fit (think so), I'd go with this one:

IIRC, you have a gear reduction starter in that car. My main concern would be adequate heat-soak capability due to the engine performance level and cooking the starter with the headers, increasing demand on the battery for hot starts.

Last dumb stuff old technology battery I bought at Autozone cost 130 bucks so up to you whether 340 is worth it or not for a battery with that capacity that weighs 45 lbs. The Autozone one with similar specs. weighs a good 20-30 lbs more.

Don't think of it as $340 for a group 48 battery, think of it as "quality-built from recycled lead and plastic, equaling a lower cost for you and a benefit for the environment." In other words, be glad they don't use that high priced virgin lead and plastic. They'd be expensive if they did that.

One way to get by with less battery power is to use a msd ignition that has a start retard feature like the msd digital 6+ does. It retards the timing by 20 degrees when starting, putting a greatly reduced load on the starter (and battery).
