Fire extinguisher

How many of you have an extinguisher in your Mustang? I have one in each the 65 and 68 mainly for a "just in case" situation something under the hood starts ablaze, but also in case I'm driving by a stranger who is in a bad situation and maybe I can help.

So if you don't have one mounted in your rig already, please consider getting one. Also please make sure it is secured in place so it's not rolling around just waiting to unload itself while you are showing off your racing skills.

And I suggest a Halon type. This way your engine won't be dusted and need a full cleaning plus fire damage repair.

Yes, just in case. Years ago in a prior '67 I had an elec fire when the harness came loose & fell into the blades of the alternator, thankfully I did have an extinguisher then too.

I have them in all my cars and at $20 a go i also have them and a fire blanket in the kitchen pantry of our home and the rentals houses

I have a Halon for just in case. But, also remember to check them and make sure they are charged! They should be swapped or recharged every 5 years.

I have one in my DD. After a PS hose in my 67 got loose and touched the exhaust manifold when I drove into my garage and caught fire...I kept one in my Mustang, It was the first thing I grabbed when I had the accident. Didn't need it but I had it at the ready. I will always keep one handy.

good idea, I keep one in my truck. where do you mount in the mustang? interior easiest to access but not all that much room, so do you mount it in the trunk?

Steve,
I have one velcro'd on the floor behind the drivers seat in the 68. In the trunk, driver's side in the 65.

I have one too.Just in case. You don't know what happens to those old horses.

IMHO thats not enough. It should be a tight fixture for a fire extinguisher. In case of a collision ,you could have this throwing to your head !!!! :chair

i made a bracket and mounted a halon extinguisher to the front passenger seat. i ended up rotating the bracket and installed it behind the drivers seat. I can move the seat forward and reverse in either case. I think behind the drivers seat could take another 1-2 seconds compared to the passenger seat if really needed. The trunk seems like the worst option (but better than nothing).

Nice mount. I always carry a 5lb when I travel. Maybe a little over kill but I've seen too many times the smaller ones fizzle out just when the fire is knocked down. Halon? It would be so easy to mount a remote system when building the car. Think I'll put one in the Vert.
