Ford engine displacement wins me $500 (again)

zray

who said Beer ?
I won the 10/30 AND 11/09 $500 pots, one of them with "289".

Last night was the big blocks turn, and I won again with "427"

Lightning strikes again, gotta love the Ford engine family. I guess next will be my Galaxie's "352" engine.

I don't acknowledge the dark side. It's bad enough that I have friends that think its OK to put brand X engine in a Ford.

Yeah, that sort of annoys me too. I was at a neighborhood show and shine years ago and they had a whole line of Model A and 32 Ford based hotrods and every one of them had a Chevy small block. BTW, I still have an LS1 Camaro and, until about three years ago, I had a 69 427 Corvette, so I have some "dark side" experience. I can tell you that, IMHO, the LS1 is an azz kicking engine and that the 427 (mine was the L-36 single 4V engine with wimpy heads) was a major disappointment. All it provided to the Corvette was enough nose weight to spoil any semblance of it being a sports car.

Since we hijacked the lotto beer thread....

Isn't the reason people use a Chevy SB in the old Fords is because or oil pan clearance issues with a Ford SB?

It is due to where the sump is. Now that SBF come with multiple sump locations there is no need for a SBC in any Ford.

Ya know, I commented to the guy next to me at that car show that it seemed that Henry Ford should have put SB Chevy engines in his cars originally since everyone seems to be converting them, and he launched into an explanation of how the Chevy OHV engine was introduced in 1955 and these cars were built in the 30's. I think you are also missing the point here, Mike.;)
