Just had my motor finished on my car and I've had this problem for about a year now I bought a flip down gas cap for my car and it won't stay up anymore adjusted it numerous times to no success. So I'm looking to buy one of these gas caps either this one http://www.cjponyparts.com/gas-cap-bill ... 73/p/GC13/

Or this one

I really don't have too much cobra stuff on my car just my shift knob is. Cobras on sale but 5 bucks isn't going to break the bank but maybe its time for my restomod to have a little more

I'd like them better if they did not have that ring of black fake screws on the perimeter, IMHO. (I have a repo flip-down and never had a problem with it staying closed, the old original one I had on a rare occasion did pop open on its own.)

Yeah that's what I have a repop. Actually had to buy a new emblem because it flipped down so hard one time it fell out I really like the flip down just can't stand that it won't stay up

There are two types of repo's, one that is original style with the intergrated spring/filler neck seal (the type I am using) & another that uses a screw-on gas cap in lieu of the spring/seal, hidden by the pop-off cover. Which one do you have?

I swapped out the black screws with stainless. Looks alot better.

I had the same problem with the flip down cap popping open. Check the latch, the portion that is supposed to hook the cap to the base is probably pretty close to a 90 degrees angle and has radiused tip... Leave the tip alone, but grind or file the face of the latch so it has more of a hook to it. Sort of like the inside corner of a 7.
