.........when they are not "fixed" correctly.

This is a car I have discussed here before.
A supposedly 64.5 (owner refuses to see any differently) vert, auto.....
Original 6 cyl car now with a '67 V8 and C4
The VIN is a Sept. 65 build date for a C code V8......which makes me think the entire front clip has been replaced, inner fenders as well...hmmmmm.
Door warranty plate number matches. Have never been able to see passenger side VIN
Car has some 65 wiring under the dash.

So, today I started a Holley 600 rebuild and intake gasket replace due to crud in the carb and water/oil leaking from the intake. Easy tasks.... got it all set up and found it was missing about 1/2" to full throttle. Readjusted and looked good......for a couple of actions, then back to the missing full throw. Found out the car has the original 6 cyl. throttle arm on the fire wall with a piece of L shaped metal clamped (using small cable clamp) to the rod near the drivers side mounting bracket. Every press of the pedal bends this pos setup. Been that way for 6-7 years I guess since the owner does not know how to turn a wrench. I never looked hard at it in the past jobs on the car.....

Located a V8 piece to install but decided the day was over. At least the car can be driven as is and runs a lot better with a clean carb.

Of course, the next issue is the tranny has been leaking since it was rebuilt prior to the owner buying it....leaking from the shifter rod and all shops say to fix it would take a new case. Owner has a '67 C4 that was rebuilt by Ford several years ago that he wants to install since it was purchased from a local club member a couple years ago for a low price. Will install new end seals before install. Just needs to buy a tranny jack for that one plus get a couple guys with good backs to do the job as I direct.... Oh, needs to replace the rear main on the engine at that time.

Other issues with the car.....pinion seal leaks, fuel tank needs cleaned but is fairly new, paint showing bubbles in several locations, rust hole in passenger side floor, leaks at windshield/top seal, has converted generator to alternator kit under the hood instead of actually rewiring, valve seals causing blowby, and who knows what else.....

Sorry to carry on but just needed a place to vent.... I forgot that the parts were not there for the job and the shop had to have two cars moved from the lift so I could work. MidLife knows the individual and I sure could use alot of the after work adult refreshments.....
