Parking brake help!!!

The cable from inside the car to the equalizer broke a few years back. I finally got around to replacing it and now it seems not to have as much spring back as it did before when I released the parking brake. So what are the adjustments I can make? I know they have an adjustment at the rear brake but anywhere else?

If the mechanism is anything like the 65/66's, the cross-bar near the transmission mount has a return spring on it: that's what gives it its springiness. The geometry has to be just right. I'll defer to the 67/68 gurus for diagrams or pictures of how that mechanism is set up.

On my '67 it bascially does a lowercase 'y' from cable that passes throught the frame. There is a slide on the drivers? side that has a long bolt and adjusting nut so that you can take up slack in the system besides any adjustment at the rear shoes.

I don't think I have a pic of that currently but can get one if you need.

Yeah some pictures would help. I just need to get under there and try to figure it out. I know it's not rocket science!!!

Well, I crawled under my car to realize that I have mounted my mufflers right over the ebrake cable adjustment assembly so couldn't snap a pic. However I remembered viewing pics to get mine back on right. These should help, you can see the thread exposed on the equilizer.
