Convex door mirrors - WOW!

Even though this would normally reside in the Paint and Body board, I wanted to get as much exposure to this thread as possible.

After reading JeffTepper's recommendation on installing not a normal RH mirror but instead a convex mirror in another thread of mine and then after installing one on gtscode's car, I had to get a couple of them for both Red and Shag. Gtscode ordered another mirror for Shag which I quickly installed last week. Yesterday took Shag our for a quick spin and OMG! what a world of difference between a regular vs convex mirror. Then yesterday afternoon, installed Red's new convex mirror and the wife and I went for a nice spin. Can't believe the difference.

Yes, one should never reply solely on mirrors, but times when you want to do a little looking around when clipping down the highway, not being forced to turn your head too much, these convex mirrors are perfect, especially in a fastback that has so many blind spots.

So there's my speech.

I always wondered how well those mirrors worked. Sounds like I will be replacing my right side mirror. Thanks for the update Craig.

You guys need to get out more.....they have worked great on trucks and motorcycles for years...I have had them on all my cars in the past. Glad you found them.....just learn how to judge distance before getting to comfortable with them...plus the old head check is still used too.

Some mirrors have a problem staying in adjustment with the added weight so be careful they do not drop down and hit the paint.

I used to use a small rectangle one on the i side mirror for watching the kids....worked great.

I have those bullet mirrors which look cool but are so small they are basically worthless. I found a convex mirror the size of the bullet mirror and put it on the RH side so you can't really tell at a glance but it works better...
