Does it fit a '67?

Mike,
I replaced the plastic handle to one of the billet ones. You will need to cut the plasticl around where the original handle attaches to the shaft. You will then need to drill/Hammer out the roll pin then the old handle should come off but if it doesn't then jut cut it off which is what i did but be careful not to cut through the shaft. I then got a machine shop to thread the new billet handle and the shaft. Using a grub screw through both makes for a tidy and secure fit.

Let me know if you want any pics.

Regards,

Johnny

Hey Frank...when I looked on their website it didn't show a'67 version.

Yes plastic still in box from NPD.

OK, so it looks like the design of the 65 or the newer billet style allows the shaft to reside between the middle and index finger allowing you to have pressure on both sides of the shaft, where as the stock 67/68 puts all the pulling pressure on just one side.

Here's a ebay link to Joe Layton's Alum billet handles. I might email Joe to see if he can supply and anodized all black handle. He makes the shifter bezel that Justin and I use.

Yeah Craig, that one does seem more practical for the pressure excerted. And I'd rather have an all black one. Those color combos look like they need to be on a riced up version.
Let me know if he responds.

OK, So today I took Shag out for a quick cruise and studied it's hand brake handle and just can't believe that there's an issue. It obviously is metal internally injected with plastic on the outside (at least for reproduction pieces) There is no way you are going to break it. Bend it maybe :dun I tugged and tugged on it, with zero flex in the handle.

Who wants to help me set my parking brake up? It's all hooked up but doesn't actually work.

I might consider a billet black handle but I agree the stock repro seems strong enough.
