Electric vacuum pumps

Anyone ever use an electric vacuum pump to feed the power brakes. My engine and cam combo is making 13 Inches, I need 17 inches for the power brakes.

I thought my setup would not run enough inches to power my new booster (idles at 11"), so I added an electric vacuum pump before checking to see if the engine vacuum was adequate enough. The electric pump was terrible - and expensive. They are loud, they vibrate terribly (even after you install it with the vibration dampers) and they are not quick at adding vacuum. For my '67 daily driver it was a terrible experience, so I pulled it out and tried the engine vacuum alone. To my surprise, the engine vacuum was totally adequate to run the booster.

I held on to that vacuum pump for a couple of years planning to sell it, but never got around to it. I chucked it just last month. If I still had it I would have just given it to you. But, I would recommend trying the engine vacuum first, as you might be surprised. If my engine didn't make enough vacuum, I would never go back to the pump, as I would just convert to manual brakes or try hydroboost.
