Preparing the car for the track Sunday

I don't think I have posted any pictures of my "Terlingua" clone track car. It's been about 8 years since I've been on a track. This Sunday there is a SCCA event at the Bristol Speedway. They usually setup a small cone course but there a hoot to do. I'm taking my daughter and plan to let her run her 08. It is a 6 banger but is rated at over 300HP. It should be fun if the liquid sunshine stays away. Here's some photos of the Terlingua clone.

You should rent it out to Mark...... Sharp looking car

....yea....if you want the engine blown....

Looks good. Will expect some videos.

PLEASE take video, that's all I got for the rest of the year.

Bring it out to Kansas and turn some laps on a real road course!

I realized something today. The last time I raced this car I could see the gauges. Now there blurry and I can't see the numbers. Hey Mark, I used to spin this thing up to 8000 before the pill would cut it off. Now that I don't race anymore I stuck a 7200 pill in it to keep it together.

I had a 7200 chip in mine when it all went bad! The most I ever turned was 7400. BTW, oil is STILL dripping from underneath the car.

It's a R 302 Block bored .025 over, 13.5 to 1 compression, Gapp and Roush pistons, Trans Am heads (non o-ringed) ported and polished by Valley Head service California (set #007), Eagle Crank and H beam rods, Lakewood scatter shield, Tremec TKO 500, Centerforce clutch, Detroit Locker with a NASCAR spec ring gear and pinion, MSD, Holly DP 650, 32 gallon fuel tank, long tube headers, remote Trans Am oil filter and cooler, SW Gauges, 6 point roll cage, Hoosier rubber, trunk mounted battery and some other goodies.

WOW that's what I hope mine looks like one day in red. What rim sizes are those? bs especially and do you know what street tire widths will fit? Wish I could make it up to Bristol this weekend...

Their 16X8 with 245 45 16ZR Tires. The front fender lips have been rolled out quiet a bit to fit them. The good ole Louisvile Slugger works wonders. I did use some smaller wooden dowel rods to start with and went slow. Worked great. On the heads I'm not exactly sure. I think the only way to tell is something about the drain backs. I know these heads are were not o-ringed like the TA blocks were, course the heads may have not anyway, I just don't know. I built this car about 10 or 12 years ago and have forgot some of the details. I did find my cam specs and it has a 568/592 race cam. I know it doesn't like pump gas at all and I have to keep my foot on the clutch in first gear and drag the engine when I turn it off if theres 93 in the tank. If not, it will "diesel" or try to run backwards. On 110 octane fuel, it comes to life and starts to make its power around 4000 RPM and up. The engine is based on a Boss 302 build and the block has 4 bolt mains. Also the valve covers have been extended to allow for the lift and allow the use of the stud girdles.

the valve covers were the first thing I noticed then I started trying to figure out what engine it was. I'm with Mark, I'd love to just ride in it!!!
