Should I sell my car?

That's dedication. Me and 5am do not get along.

One of my problems is that my car is kind of pushed back in the garage and our daily drivers are in front of it. So every time I want to work on it, I have to move out a car, roll it forward. Then get it up on jackstands before I can work on it. So its laziness that keeps me from doing it unless I have a whole day to focus on it.

Pat, I know the frustration of having to do work just to get the car where you can do work on it. Then when you're "finished" for the day, more work to put it back! Due to my fastback being in one stall of the garage and everything else being in the other stall, the coupe had to stay outside. In order to protect it and my work I had it heavily wrapped in tarps. It took me time to unwrap to do work and even longer to wrap it back up. I was also subject to weather extremes, heat, cold and with rain.....no work at all! Believe it or not, I got the bulk of all of my heavy work done when it was that way. Above money or time, motivation is the most valuable commodity with a project. The reason I got so much done was to maximize my gains for the trouble I had to go through each time to work on the car.

I know you've been at your project for quit awhile now. I also know the feeling of seeming to get ahead, only to discover even MORE things need fixing and you feel further behind. Trust me my friend, been there (as I'm sure many of our fellow Fixers have been!). Take a step back, take a breath then sit down and do a really honest assessment as to whether it's better to get rid of the car or soldier on. I'd recommend sitting down on the floor in front of the car with a pad of paper. Look at the car and start writing a list of pros and cons. For all of the "cons" you list, see if you can think of a solution to address the "con". If you get stuck, put it on here for some ideas. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees and the "complex" problem actually has a simple solution. I think this may help with your final decision. Sorry for the long rant, but I really would hate for you to sell and then truly regret the decision later. Good luck with it!

Thanks everybody. I guess I just needed to vent and whine a bit.

I took the car off Craigslist. I'm going to get it running then we will see if I still feel like selling it.

Good idea. The car is worth more and will be an easier to sell running but I have a feeling that once you get back behind the wheel, the thought of selling it will quickly disappear.

You need to make some time like a long weekend where you can get the car set up and leave it there for a few days while you work on it. Leave the daily driver in the driveway, it wont melt...

Yeah, the hard part is I don't get weekends off so usually I get 1 day at a time every other week. And now its my back school season. Busiest time of the year for me.

As for the DD sitting out side, I know it won't melt but the neighbor kids are monsters. If I leave it out it ends up with dents from baseballs or something. I'm really picky about all my cars.
