All you can do is read on the box....now days one never knows where a brand name comes from. Just remember to rotate it when doing your tuneups......or you could go to a Pertronics unit. I really liked that conversion.
The only thing that concerns me with the Pertronix is when it dies.. it dies. Or so I hear. At least with the condenser I got home. Buuut if it takes a dump every 6 months :dun The one I bought today was a BWD ( Made in Mexico )
Neen running a pertronix since 93. Over 75000 miles. still going strong.
Damn...that's giving me something to think about. :thum

The Pertronix are real good. Also, just carry the entire points system you remove and if it dies, less than 30 min. and you are running again. I never have had to do that and I ran several in older cars in the past.

I would just do the 1 unless you really think you need the extra dwell adjusting automatically for your driving around the block. Plus, the 1 is very discreet looking.

Just ordered a #1 from Ponderosa Mustang. I remember him from over there.

The simpler the better (for me )

I'm running the original one. assume it's the one. Not sure it had a number. Using the oem coil. in both the 64 1/2 and 66

No it was all Pete, he was the one who reminded me of that issue.

Um I got a Crane conversion much like the Pertronix with an RPM limiter.

I think I still have it if you need it.

Thank's Mel, but the 'Tronix is already on it's way. As usual I act too quick, but I appreciate the offer and the help.

You'll love the Pertronix. We've had one in my son's 69 SportsRoof for about 19 years and the one in my 69 vert is about 16 years old. Nary a problem with either. Imagine how many sets of points and condensers we would have purchased in that time period, not to mention the plug life. I do miss adjusting the points, though. :jerk Lots of folks were having issues with the Pertronix II when it first came out. Must have been something to do with the automatic dwell adjusting feature. When somebody above said "when they're done, they're done" that's pretty much true of any electrical component. Everyone seems to want to bad mouth them, but they are a real bargain and provide all the benefits of electronic ignition. I drove the vert to Birmingham, AL for the 45th, put over 5,200 miles on the car, and the Pertronix never had a problem, even running all day at 3,500 - 4,000 rpm. But it was only eleven years old at the time.

I had one in the 67. I didn't like it. Would give intermittent issues.

I know people who like them and drove their cars too. I just don't like them.

Man were you right about that !! Installed it this past weekend. Turned the key a BAM...fired right up with no pedal pumping or two or three try's. Ran smoother than she ever has. Seems to have a lot more pep in the pedal as well. Even my neighbor came over and asked what I did to it because it sounded so much better. Can't wait to take her out this weekend for a nice little drive through the country side.
