Seems halfway there (Carmel Valley) I started hearing a knocking...it got worse.
At lunch Craig heard it loud and clear. We even called in John(Opentracker) who stopped by for an expert opinion. Best not to drive it any further. To his trained ear it was a lifter. So to be safe I called AAA for a flatbed home.

COTM curse starting?

Well after the tow truck driver's family threatened a lawsuit we settled on me giving them the '67.

So....I'll always treasure winning the COTM. :sarc

Now lets talk about Chevy trucks. :pbj

Didn't you have a similar issue on the MALT trip a few years ago? IIRC, it was one of those factory adjustable rocker arm studs working loose even after it had been staked. Further didn't Doug at Precision Oil Pumps in Clovis have a new one in stock? Hope the fix is simple.

you should have been wearing the mankini. it would have matched the towtruck driver's jacket!!

That sucks, I'd pull off a valve cover first and check if anything is loose up there. I assume oil pressure was still normal?
 
Listening to the sound, it really seem to come from under the intake mani on the passenger side. Probably lifter.

+1... and the car runs good... if the motor is not running rough or backfiring you just have a collapsed lifter... any poping thru carb or exhaust means a wiped lobe (learned that lesson in High School)...
